It’s my #NOvember and I have been practicing saying NO as much as I can. This practice is also about saying YES to things that feed my mind, body, and spirit.
I haven’t published in a while, not because I haven’t wanted to, but for a lot of reasons that would take up multiple posts. In short, the reasons lie somewhere between busyness and having confidence. A good friend of mine hit me up last week and asked if I wanted to schedule some time together to get back into the practice of writing. Scheduling our accountability to our practice and in village with each other. Our first scheduled writing block was this morning. Man, it was hard AF to find words but I was able to crank out a few words on my #BlackandCreativeAF series. I am also publishing this here as a practice. Another lesson is if you find it hard to discipline yourself, schedule time with someone else to be accountable to you. I hope it encourages you to say NO in order to YES. Let me know what y’all think.
Begin Again.
“New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.” - Lao Tzu
Begin again as often as you need to. The noise will try to convince you starting over means failure. Quiet the noise. Don't feel guilty about starting over. What seems like painful endings are making room for fresh beginnings.
A good friend of mine Juan Alvarez who teaches meditation says "Enter from here." In other words, start from where you are just as you are. The beginning is saying NO to what had you bound.
Being Black and Creative AF means Delivering Black Dreams. It's creating new ways, new spaces, new ideas over and over again. It's developing a liberating practice of appreciating the past and building our collective future with radical creativity and imagination. Ain’t nothing wrong with starting anew new!
Permit yourself to Begin Again, to start over, to enter the moment from where you are.
In Peace.
This was right on time big bro. Love you man!
